SKIN CARE

SKIN CARE
Proper skin care is important since skin is not only the largest organ of our body but also the largest barrier against infections.
Investing early in the health of your skin will not only better protect your skin from external influences but also keep you looking and feeling your best and also help you age gracefully.

CTM (CLEANSING, TONING AND MOISTURISING) is a basic skin care routine to be followed no matter what skin type you have.
  • ·         Cleansing- Throughout the day our skin gets laden with dirt, make up, pollutants, irritants etc and thus it is very important to cleanse our skin morning and night. Don’t use soaps, it isn’t advisable. Find a suitable face wash or cleanser suitable for your skin.
  • ·         Toning- using a toner helps restore the skin pH after cleansing. It also helps tighten the pores left open after cleansing. Rose water, Apple Cider vinegar diluted with water or a tea tree toner are some of the examples of toners that can work well for your skin.
  • ·         Moisturizing- this is the most important step. Using the right moisturizer not just keeps our skin healthy but also helps us deal with skin concerns, pimples, dryness etc.
  • ·         To add to your skin care you can exfoliate your skin 1-2 times/week as it helps remove the dead skin cells from the surface and also increases the blood flow to surface and helps you achieve a healthy and glowing skin.
  • ·         Not to forget the most crucial step is to apply sunscreen. It helps protect your skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and can prevent sun damage.  So even on cloudy, winter days protect your skin by using a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more. Just apply sunscreen every day and your skin will thank you.

Also, do not neglect your neck as this is the most common Skin Care mistake. So always make sure you continue your entire skin care regime down your neck.

(P.S- Before you start using a new product, you should always do a patch test to avoid the risk of irritation, infection or allergic reaction)

All this being said and done, no matter how many products you apply on your skin, if your diet is not taken care of, your skin will never be its best. To get that glow you need to be supplying your body with the right nutrients to strengthen your gut.

Also, you need to make sure you drink of plenty of water throughout the day- it’s a skincare no brainer. If you are not drinking enough of water it can make your skin look dull and emphasize fine lines. Hence this is something I can’t stress enough about. You should aim for at least 2 litres of water every day.

And last but not the least leave your pimples alone! As tempting as it is to pop a pimple, try to resist the urge as you will most likely spread the bacteria and this could also leave a scar.

I hope this post helps all of you to jump on the Skin Care Wagon and nourish your skin well!

Regards,

Dr Zainab Khambaty Tajir.
